Almost 20 years after unleashing terror in No Country for Old Men, Javier Bardem is back to his villainous best in Apple TV's upcoming series remake of the classic thriller Cape Fear.

Darkness deepens in bardem's reimagined max cady

As the first trailer reveals, Bardem's vengeful character, Max Cady, targets the affluent suburban family of Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams. But this time, things look even darker than in Martin Scorsese's 1991 film adaptation.

Bardem's tattoos hint at a sinister energy, more akin to those you'd get during a satanic ritual than the typical prison ink of De Niro's version. This demonic aesthetic reflects Cady's descent into madness.

Scorsese and Steven Spielberg serve as executive producers, with the latter initially set to direct Scorsese's remake before handing it over due to the planned violence. The series promises to tell the same story as Scorsese's movie, with Bardem's Cady seeking revenge against the lawyers who put him behind bars, believing they hid evidence of his innocence.
