Tallulah Willis’s Balenciaga Couture Wedding Dress: A Labor of Love

Writer, artist, and advocate Tallulah Willis celebrated her marriage to musician Justin Acee on August 8th in Sun Valley, Idaho, marking a remarkable journey from online browsing to haute couture.

A Couture Collaboration

Just days prior, Vogue accompanied Tallulah for her final wedding dress fitting at the Chateau Marmont, documenting the extraordinary process behind her custom Balenciaga creation. The morning began with a chat between Tallulah and her sisters, Rumer and Scout, reminiscing about early wedding dress searches – including one discovered on Etsy.

“Remember when you were sending me Etsy wedding dresses?” Scout joked. “This was like six months ago. She was like ‘What about this one?’ and it was on Etsy. From Etsy to Balenciaga couture—that’s a moment. Who would have thought?”

Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director of Balenciaga, designed the gown, a testament to Tallulah’s vision and the atelier’s expertise. “This morning I’m feeling almost out of body,” Tallulah admitted, embracing the “princess moment” while trying on the dress.

Inspiration and Craftsmanship

Demi Moore, Tallulah’s mother, recalled Piccioli’s dedication, stating, “And I think he would have stayed there playing all day.” Brad Goreski, Demi’s longtime stylist, collaborated with Tallulah to provide inspiration and references to the Balenciaga team. “Being able to put together things that I like, and working together with Brad too on that, and walking in the room and seeing all of these things come to life, and then also knowing it was for me, was such a beautiful moment,” Tallulah shared.

The dress itself, a strapless silk satin column gown with a draped train and a delicate bow, represents over 712 hours of work. The intricate hand embroidery, painstakingly applied by Balenciaga artisans, took an additional 60 hours per petal. The neckline was directly inspired by a Balenciaga look her mother wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar party.

“The bow was something that Pierpaolo wanted,” Tallulah explained. “He wanted it to be like a package that was being unwrapped.”

A Star-Studded Reveal

As Tallulah emerged in the finished gown, her family and friends erupted in applause and admiration, declaring her a “movie star goddess.” The dress, a stunning embodiment of whimsical elegance, truly marked a transformative moment in her wedding day.
