Nyfw 2026: fresh faces and bold visionaries take center stage
New York’s fashion scene is buzzing – and this time, it’s not just about the established titans. The 2026 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is pulling back the curtain on ten incredibly talented, largely unknown, womenswear designers poised to disrupt the industry.
A new guard emerges
Yesterday’s selection at CFDA headquarters revealed a collection unlike any seen in recent years. Forget the usual pedigree; this year’s finalists – Aisling Camps, Amir Taghi, Terrence Zhou of Bad Binch, Emily Dawn Long, Jamie Haller, Julia Ferentinos of Juju Vera, Zane Li of Lii, George Inaki of Milamore, Claire Sullivan of Miss Claire Sullivan, and Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen – represent a raw, unfiltered energy. Each brought a distinct aesthetic and a fiercely loyal audience, mostly independent and hungry for something genuinely new.
Nicole Phelps, Global Director of Vogue Runway and Vogue Business, put it succinctly: “This year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists are a timely reminder about the diversity, resourcefulness, and deep creativity of our homegrown talent.” The timing is particularly significant, coinciding with America’s 250th birthday – a moment to celebrate the nation’s creative spirit.
While Juju Vera and Milamore bring a touch of jewelry innovation to the mix, the core of this cohort is resolutely focused on womenswear. But don’t mistake this for a narrow focus; these designers aren’t simply rehashing trends. They're actively building narratives, fueled by a palpable sense of purpose. And that, according to Steven Kolb, CEO and President of the CFDA, is precisely what the industry needs.
Adding to the advisory panel are Chloe Malle, Denise Magid, Yumi Shin, and Christopher John Rogers, offering invaluable guidance to these emerging voices. The stakes are high: the grand prize of $300,000, along with two runner-up awards of $100,000, will undoubtedly propel these designers forward, coupled with crucial mentorship opportunities. The results, announced this October, will be watched with considerable interest.
