Met gala resurfaces in 'the devil wears prada 2' trailer – a fashion spectacle
The highly anticipated trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 delivers a dazzling surprise: a scene seemingly recreating the Met Gala. The clip, surfacing online, depicts a star-studded procession of guests ascending the steps of the American Museum of Natural History for Runway magazine’s annual “Spring Florals” gala. It’s a meticulously crafted homage to the event, boasting a cast of real-life Fashion luminaries and designer creations.

A tête-à-tête of haute couture and high jewelry
The visual echoes are striking. Ashley Graham and Alek Wek are resplendent in Christian Siriano gowns brimming with tulle. Simone Ashley channels vintage glamour in an archive Jean Paul Gaultier piece. And Meryl Streep, appearing in a dramatic red ball gown, evokes the recent Valentino spring 2025 couture worn by Anne Hathaway at a Bvlgari high jewelry gala in Milan. The similarities are hard to ignore, prompting speculation about behind-the-scenes inspiration.
However, the trailer includes a subtle but significant difference. While Miranda Priestly (played by Emily Blunt) keeps her neck bare, Anne Hathaway’s look is completed with Bvlgari’s Secret Garden necklace – a centerpiece of the jeweler's new 160-piece Eclettica collection. The necklace is a breathtaking piece, featuring a 26.65-carat padparadscha sapphire sourced from Sri Lanka, set amongst baguette cuts, onyx, purple sapphires, and emeralds. The collection, spearheaded by creative director Lucia Silvestri, represents years of searching for the perfect stone.
Hathaway was accompanied by fellow ambassadors including Dua Lipa in a new Balmain ensemble and Priyanka Chopra in Saiid Kobeisy spring 2026 couture. Jake Gyllenhaal, Nick Jonas, Liu Yifei, and Kim Ji-won also graced the scene. The guest list itself was as glittering as the jewelry on display. The trailer’s success lies in its ability to blend fictional narrative with real-world Fashion references, creating a captivating moment for viewers.
