L.l.bean's japan edition returns, with a twist

L.L.Bean is taking its love of Japanese fashion to new heights with the return of its Japan Edition collection.

The three-decade journey full circle

In 1992, the iconic outdoors brand opened its second store in Tokyo's trendy Jiyugaoka neighborhood, catering to a devoted fanbase of Japanese consumers who prized the brand's unique blend of classic American style and Japanese sensibilities.

Fast forward to 2025, when L.L.Bean brought a small taste of that Japanese assortment to the United States, with pop-ups in Brooklyn and Los Angeles. The response was overwhelming, with customers clamoring for greater access to the coveted collection.

So this year, L.L.Bean is delivering, with the Japan Edition now available online and in select stores across the country. The expanded range features a mix of timeless pieces, like the boxy Roxbury jacket and the Prospect Harbor hoodie, alongside items that showcase the cultural exchange at play, such as a trout-printed tee and the Japanese take on the classic Bean field coat.
